About Ulla Abildgaard
Ulla grew up in the city of Copenhagen, Denmark. She moved to Australia in 1988 where she since has settled as an artist. A word glimse of her work is that it is a portrayal of her life's journey as reflected and portrayed by capturing the emotions, energy and landscapes of abstract comtemporary human form and facial intensity. It is enhanced by deep, rich exuberant and vibrant colours, bringing the immensity of emotion to life. She Likes to incorporate her danish background both in their family home "hygge" life and expressed in her art by embracing the extremes in nature such as the vibrint colours in a bush fire and the harshness in the Danish snow. The layers of colours enhanced by her many tools ( credit cards ) gives a beautiful abstract and textured feel. " At times my work evokes a place to hide, like a covoy of masquerading shelters, sometimes a way to disclose to the world, as in a cascade of explosions, sometimes just be being- allowig the strokes to lead the way, eventually revealing the unknown " says Ulla.
"My portraits exude an "intensitivity" - my word to describe the attempt to capture depth in the poses and in the eyes of the fascial expression ".
